Microsoft Academy

As part of the old Masterclass programme we have started staff training in Academy in both PowerPoint and Word.  We have about 13 signed up for each course.  I am onto week 4 in the word course and the staff are finally getting used to the text books which tend to be very step by step in fact almost baby step by baby step.  I think the staff are enjoying the opportunity to sit for 1.5 hours with nothing to concentrate on except their course.  How has everyone else who is doing Academy found it?

Interactive White Board(IWB) v Class PAs

September 19th, 2006 by Graham Pow in IWBs · 1 Comment

A couple of years ago CGS invested in a number of IWBs – at the time I was a bit sceptical about the value for money as I thought that most teachers would use them in a non-interactive way – 2 years on I still feel the same although a number of departments are using them very well to lecture from.  Last yeat due to the evangelical ranting by Ian Stuart in Islay we purchased a class pad as an alternative.  The class pad is now in the English department on trial to see if it does as good a job but at a fraction of the cost – watch this space for updates
